ePic Books LLC is developing a patentable, potentially disruptive technology in the e-publishing/rich media content field. Think of it as eBook 2.0. We have a strong product, a solid plan, three strong revenue streams, and an "A List" management and development team. We are offering 100% return of capital within 36 months, 8% interest accruing, and 30% equity stake. We are looking to raise $1.5 million. If you've been following the news lately, you know that the smartphone and tablet market are booming, and the demand for high quality content is growing ever more rapidly. ePic Books create a rich media application rather than another text-only eBook. It uses Hollywood-level production values to take advantage of the new medium’s ability to expand the way we experience reading a story. Audiences are hungry for content they can interact with using their new, ubiquitous devices. To take advantage of this opportunity, we will: 1. Develop three media rich ePic titles as revenue-generating proofs of concept in year one. 2. Develop a technology platform that we can reuse to create more rich media eBook titles, at a significantly lower development cost. 3. Generate revenue by partnering with traditional publishers, film studios, and digital/advertising agencies. We have already begun forging those relationships and have received enthusiastic response. A CNBC analyst said recently, “the app market is pretty tapped out. If I were looking to invest there, I'd look to e-publishing. That's where the growth is. The one who figures out how to make titles stand out is going to make a fortune.” Comparable books with similar advertising budgets routinely sell 400,000 copies or more. However, none of them have the additional content that we will offer. Simple, addictive games routinely sell more than 1.5 million units, according to Forrester research. Our bundle will include at least three games, as well as music and video. As articles like this one suggest, the market is clearly there, and it's not yet satisfied: http://www.xconomy.com/national/2011/01/21/the-age-of-tablet-superbooks-not-yet/ The team includes a former CFO of a multi-million dollar company, partners in a Hollywood production company and agency, a new media marketing veteran, and the winner of the first prime time Emmy award for interactive television. An executive summary, presentation, and a business plan summary, including management and production team bios, can be downloaded here: http://johnadcox.com/ePic.zip It's a large file, and may take three to five minutes to download on DSL. I hope that's not a problem. The presentation is given in both a .pdf and a .mov version. I hope you'll take a look.
